Course Description
In this four-week live-streamed series we will explore many of the preparatory practices, strengthening techniques, and supportive possibilities in pursuit of these two grounding, mind-settling inversions. Each week we will play and move and use breathing techniques and anatomy lessons and a variety of approaches in a sophisticated, workshop-style practice. These practices are complex in the best of circumstances, and teaching them remotely is also complicated, so we ask that you have well-developed body awareness and capacity to place weight on your head and spine as the poses require. You do not have to be able to actually do the posture, as lots of alternatives and supported modifications will be shared, but some solid understanding and subtlety is helpful here to avoid injury, since we won't be able to have actual eyes on your body or form except through the screen. This may not be the best format to try these postures for the first time. For this series you will need a backless yoga chair, 4-5 yoga blankets, two blocks, a yoga strap, and possibly a small hand towel.
